When Lawrence Bow
set up his company in 1867, it is unlikely that he envisaged the family
name continuing in the trade as far ahead as the 21st century. But
from small beginnings Thomas Bow developed into one of Nottinghams
major Building & Civil Engineering contractors. The firm went on
to complete many landmark buildings and superior residential properties
around the city. Today it is run by Alistair Bow, together with partners
John Allen and David Wilkinson, all of whom are aware that whatever
else has changed in the Construction industry over the years, the need
for quality workmanship has always remained constant.
The view is shared by Alex Gardner, whose company City Asphalt Ltd
is another family business, originally set up by his father Bob. The
firm has been a reputable name in Surfacing since 1970, after completing
various prestige contracts in both the private and commercial sector.
Although locally based, City Asphalt operates with a well structured
management team throughout the East Midlands.
Both companies are committed to producing first class work, and to
do this they retain the best of the traditional skills and adapt them
to the needs and demands of the modern day. This is accomplished by
using sound management practices and maintaining a strict attentiveness
to the varying requirements of their domestic and commercial clients.
